3D Mobile Game

Unicorn Band

This was the final project for my "Mobile App Development" course during my undergraduate studies in Digital Imaging Engineering. I developed a 3D running action game using Unity, following a unicorn's adventure to find his lost friends on a stranded island. This project provided valuable experience in game design and development, combining creativity with technical skills to deliver an engaging mobile experience.

Concept

1. Adorable unicorn adventure
Players take on the role of a unicorn on a journey to find lost unicorn friends in an engaging story with an immersive intro animation.

2. Exploration across three maps
Travel through the Forest, Desert, and Iceland maps, collecting musical note jellies and instrument parts to complete missions and reunite with friends.

3. Simple gameplay and rewarding ending
Enjoy intuitive one-handed controls, leading to a joyful ending where your reunited unicorn friends perform together in a celebratory band concert.

A peaceful island where the friends of the unicorn live together and make music together as a band.

Intro animation

A fierce storm sweeps through the island, scattering the unicorn's friends and their instruments across distant lands. The unicorn approaches the player for help, setting the stage for an exciting adventure.

(English) My friends are scattered across the islands. Can you help me find them?

Select map

Explore forest, desert, and glacier themed islands to find the unicorn's friends and their instruments. Players can choose any map to begin their journey, each with unique obstacles and instruments.

Finding friends

Use simple touch controls to guide the unicorn to jump and avoid obstacles. Collect instrument parts and note jellies along the way, and reunite with the unicorn friend waiting at the end of the map to complete the level.

Ending scene

After gathering all the friends and instruments from the scattered maps, the unicorns reunite to form a band. The game ends with a joyful performance in the final scene.

Takeaway
This project significantly enhanced my skills in both game design and development and earned me the highest grade in my Mobile App Development course.
Developing a game with Unity 3D for the first time was a highly rewarding experience. As the designer, I created the storyline, 3D maps, animations, and game UI, while programming key features like collision mechanics, sound effects, and background music in C#. Seeing these elements come to life was incredibly exciting. Collaborating with an engineering teammate taught me to effectively divide tasks and align design with development, enhancing my teamwork skills and ability to deliver high-quality results within tight timelines.
